GenAI for HR and Recruiting: Where It Helps and Where to Be Careful

AI can save recruiters hours, but hiring decisions carry real risk. Here is a safe split.

Two zones separating what AI may assist with in HR from what people must decide

HR teams handle large volumes of text: job posts, applications, policies, and employee questions. That makes them a natural fit for GenAI.

Good uses

  • Draft job descriptions and interview guides.
  • Answer common policy questions for employees.
  • Summarize long applications for a recruiter to review.
  • Prepare onboarding materials.

Be careful

Do not let AI make or rank hiring decisions on its own. It can reflect bias from its training data, and the legal exposure is real. Keep a person responsible, and check the rules that apply where you hire.

Protect personal data. Limit what is sent to the model and who can see the outputs.
